Let it snow… in Athens

Buenos días.

Today I do not have a picture (no battery in the mobile phone) but believe me when I say: “it’s snowing in Athens”. I went out to go to the office and I could feel the cold in my chicks. Too cold. Two steps after I found cars with snow in the windshield. And then I realized that a fine grained snow was falling over Athens. I felt like I was Spain, but with a greek style ;)

For this snowy day, a nice song. Frank Sinatra :)

(Frank)
Oh The Weather Outside Is Frightful
But The Fire Is So Delightful
Since We’ve No Place To Go
Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow

It Doesn’t Show Signs of Stopping
And I’ve Brought Some Corn For Popping
The Lights Are Turned Down Low
Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow

When We Finally Kiss Goodnight
How I’ll Hate Going Out In A Storm
But If You Really Hold Me Tight
All The Way Home I’ll Be Warm

The Fire Is Slowly Dying
And My Dear We’re Still Goodbying
As Long As You Love Me So
Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow

(Backup Voices)

He Doesn’t Care If It’s In Below
He’s Sitting By The Fires Gloosy Glow
He Don’t Care About The Cold And The Winds That Blow
He Just Says, Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow

(Frank) Let It Snow!

(Backup Voices)

Oooooh Wee Goes The Storm
Why Should He Worry When He’s Nice And Warm
His Girl By His Side And The Lights Turned Low
He Just Says, Let It Snow, Let It Snow

(Frank) I Don’t Care!

(Instrumental)

(Frank)

The Weather Outside Is Frightful
But That Fire Is Ummm.. Delightful
Since We’ve No Place To Go
Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow

It Doesn’t Show Signs Of Stopping
And I’ve Brought Lots Of Corn For Popping
The Lights Are Way Down Low
So Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow

(Backup Voices) Let It Snow!

(Frank)

When We’ve Finally Say Goodnight
How I’ll Hate Going Out In A Storm
But If You’ll Only Hold Me Tigh

I took some pix of snowy Athens in January 2006, see http://betabug.ch/blogs/ch-athens/282 - no snow last year IIRC. It’s always a fun experience, something unexpected, even though it happens every other year or so.

The song you put up is something we sing at Christmas in America. If you want to feel cold, spend one day in NYC, Chicago or Sweden, then get back to me ;)

    @Nazgul2: Ahm! Northern Spain :’)

@r0sk: In Galicia you have always humidity. I believe that if you’re thirsty the solution is to open your mouth an run a bit to capture the “water in the air” :P

    @betabug: shocking and beautiful.

@Kat: In the end of “Die Hard 2″, they put that song. It was snowing in the movie so the song comes to my mind every time I see snow :D

By the way, that monday was the Frank Sinatra day. I found the discography in the company’s music server. Really relaxing in this office full of phone calls, and people talking loud.
