Also I wanted to add.

For financial resources, they usually ask for some sort of bank statement certified by the police and a statement of facts (dilosi) from the bank. Or they ask for originals of any income coming from outside Greece, either paid by a company or retirement or alimony/palimony, etc., which must be translated to Greek by the Translation office, then copied and certified by police or KEP.

For insurance, EU citizens from abroad can present something from back home, or TEVE or OGA or whatever. Original and photocopies.

Photo places near public sector offices, police stations and other official places also "milk" you.

This is really excellent, and it's good that your gf was able to help; for 10 years, I did not have this. It also confirms what I say about KEP being useless in most cases. I will be referencing your post in a future article on my site.

Your pictures are really nice already! I enjoyed them a lot, since I was still on vacation and missed my chance to see the Parthenon under a full moon. Anyway, whenever you want, we can make a 5 minute night photography course and I'll show you what I know :-)

We do not go out very much on purpose, not because we don't want to, but because we are constantly disappointed with prices, services, the bad manners of other people and the general irritation of how I am treated as a non-Greek. The same with takeaway -- the food is little, quality is bad, and very overpriced.

Therefore, we do what you say. We boycott these things because we do not accept them and save our money to go outside Greece. I constantly tell people that they have power as consumers to not give their money to keep poor quality businesses running, but they feel apathetic and without other options. Sure, the politicians can do something, however we can speak louder with our euros.

thanks graffic,

unfortunately, "touch mysite.fcgi", doesn't work. continue to take ages, two or three hours, for the changes to take effect.

i haven't mentioned before but i had to put the "mysite.fcgi" in the folder cgi-bin for django to work. in the root folder of the project it doesn't get executed. and a question, does the fcgi file have to be named "mysite.fcgi" or can it be anything?

the fcgi daemon is part of the hostmonster server and only the administrator can stop/start it, right?

cheers.

@Tito: I'll start from the end. Do not run it in fcgi mode manually, it's not made to run in that way.

Now to the juciy thing. Quick: In order to restart your django application, just "touch mysite.fcgi". In fact do something that changes the "last modification" date: edit it, upload a new version, etc.

Why? In FCGI mode there is a process running to serve the requests. The part "fast" in FCGI means that you don't have to relaunch the process in every request. You launch it once and it stays there fore some time/some requests. That's the reason it takes "ages" to reload the configuration.

This "should" work, but you never know :)
